Below, you will find links to documents relating to my responsibilities as a counselor at GHA.
Counselor Responsibilities
Personal Development Groups
For 9 different times during the course of the academy, I and my small group of students would break off into "Personal Development Groups". The purpose of this time was for me to teach students skills that would help them be successful in their future. By clicking the link, you can view all of the PD groups I wrote and developed for my students, as well as materials needed and time allotted for each group. ***Click on the PDF called "PD Groups"
Logistics of the Academy
A program like this costs a lot of money. Each participant was required to raise $1100Â to attend the academy, and each counselor was responsible for making regular contact with his/her PD group to make sure they were on schedule to making all of their deadlines. I was also there to give moral support to my students, and to answer any questions that they may have had about fundraising, the academy, etc. The link will take you to the participant packet of information. (See page 6 for monetary and registration deadlines.) ***Click on the PDF called "Participant Packet"
Daily Schedule
June 17-25, 2016
It takes a lot of hands on deck to run this program! For viewing purposes only, this link will take you to the detailed daily schedule of activities of the academy and responsibilities of counselors like myself. *Note: it took a lot of food to feed all these kids, plus counselors and directors. I was part of the food planning committee, which organized what and where we would eat. I was in charge of calling a few restaurants and negotiating prices for a large educational group.
